Mexico. Belden Inc. announced a new line of multi-purpose cables custom-made for the needs of machine builders: SpaceMaker series electronic cables.
The line features highly flexible, smaller diameter cables to help device and machine manufacturers connect more devices in industrial environments with restricted spaces.
"Since machines are becoming more compact, machine builders must find ways to direct cables through very narrow passages and narrow corners. With this in mind, we designed a new line of cables that are up to 52% smaller and boast a 74% narrower bend radius than standard cables," said Hillary Whitehead, Product Line Manager at Belden. "With the use of SpaceMaker series cables, machine builders can create the latest in system design without having to commit to dealing with a large number of cables."
These multi-purpose cables help machine builders connect input/output and field-level devices such as sensors, encoders, pushbuttons, and actuators. They can also perform wiring through control panels where the space is narrow.
Machine builders in the discrete manufacturing, food and beverage, product evaluation and automotive industries will benefit from SpaceMaker's ability to:
- Connect more devices in tight spaces.
- Direct cables through conduits and hard-to-reach spaces.
- Protect signal integrity even when exposed to chemicals, solvents, pressurized water, extreme temperatures, or strong vibrations.
"The SpaceMaker series has a robust design and is backed by a market-leading 10-year free warranty. Therefore, users can be confident that these cables will exceed the lifespan of any other machine component," Whitehead added.
