Nutanix Announces InstantON VDI to Accelerate Virtualization

Latin America. Nutanix announced InstantON VDI for Citrix, a solution that dramatically simplifies and accelerates virtual desktop (VDI) deployments for midsize or larger enterprises.

InstantON VDI includes Citrix XenDesktop VDI Edition, Nutanix's enterprise cloud platform, and integration with AHV with Citrix Machine Creation Services (MCS), plus three years of support, all priced at just $415 per desktop. Combined with low-cost end-user devices such as Raspberry Pi-based devices, the total cost of the InstantON VDI solution will be less than that of a physical desktop device. The integrated solution reduces the workload of low-tier IT teams and infrastructure management to support VDI deployments, thereby reducing deployment times to an average of 4 hours.

"The farmers insurance Federal Credit Union team has seen firsthand how easy it was to deploy high-performance desktops with Citrix XenDesktop and Nutanix's enterprise cloud platform," said Rodney J. Perkins, it director, Farmers Insurance Federal Credit Union. "We have been impressed by how quickly it was implemented and how little is required to handle it every day. It has allowed us to divert our attention from the data center to the needs of our end users."

With smaller IT teams and more limited budgets, midsize businesses are often challenged to implement new solutions to improve their end-user experiences. InstantON VDI enables these companies to leverage validated, cost-effective solutions for application and desktop virtualization so they can minimize the risk associated with deploying complex new technology in their data center. With a list price of just $415 per desktop, InstantON VDI reduces constraints on organizations' IT budgets.

"Virtual desktop deployments have been inaccessible to many midsize enterprises that lack the resources to handle complex infrastructure deployments and expensive virtualization licenses," said Bill Burley, vice president and general manager of workspace services at Citrix. "Medium-sized companies should not be penalized simply because they do not have the budget of a company on the Global 2000 list. With InstantON VDI, joint Nutanix and Citrix customers gain access to the industry's leading solution for VDI at a price they can afford to pay, but without the complexity of traditional data center infrastructure."
