New complete monitoring system especially aimed at the retail sector

Latin America. To accelerate the migration of analog Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) to the digital world, Axis Communications, creator of the IP camera, announces the launch of a complete package of low-cost hardware and software that serves as input equipment to network video.

Comprised of four HDTV-quality cameras, image viewing software, memory cards for storing recordings, as well as cables and accessories, AXIS F34 is now available through Axis channels registered in South America. According to the independent consultancy IHS, in 2014 there were 245 million video surveillance cameras installed and operating in the world, most of them, even with analog technology.

Since creating the IP camera in 1996, Axis Communications initiated a change in the security industry, achieving the migration to digital systems, now with HD, Full HD and 4K image quality, in addition to a number of advanced features. The new AXIS F34 system has Zipstream image compression technology, to the point of reducing the need for broadband and data storage by up to 50%.

The two 64GB memory cards included in the kit, which eliminate the use of a PC or an external storage device, have been specifically optimized for video recording, and can store high-definition images, for two weeks, in encrypted form. All functions of the AXIS F34 system are designed to generate a low cost in terms of total investment: the cameras can be automatically adjusted to record only when they detect movement in the scene, further reducing the need for broadband and storage. AXIS Camera Companion software, for up to 16 cameras, is free.

The cameras are powered via PoE with a single network cable. If the customer does not own a PoE switch, there is no need to buy it, as the kit comes with an external power source.

"With AXIS F34 package, the retailer or store owner now has a smart, easy-to-install option to monitor their entire store even across smartphones or tablets. We have created an input device, which serves as a starting point for the retailer to start getting acquainted and investing in IP video surveillance," says Marcelo Ponte, Marketing Manager at Axis Communications. "When you add up all the costs to install an analog CCTV system, including maintenance requirements, it's no longer worth it. Especially when a problem occurs and the images do not allow to identify the suspects, "added the manager.

F Series AXIS F34 is part of a series of products aimed at offering comprehensive solutions for different market segments. At the end of 2014, Axis launched the F44, a low-cost solution for video surveillance and recording on buses: public transport companies now have a kit of four high-definition cameras for the interior and exterior of vehicles, capable of storing recordings of the entire fleet.
