Argentina. Axis Communications expanded its options of PTZ cameras (pan, tilt and zoom) available in the market with the launch of four new models of the P55 series. Now, the manufacturer has 40 PTZ cameras to supply the different market segments, from more accessible products for hotels and shopping malls, to robot cameras for industries and roads.
Text box: AXIS P55 series received four new models, bringing Axis' PTZ camera options to 40In addition to expanding the PTZ portfolio, Axis has created innovations that eliminate the typical limitations faced by cameras of this type. Sharpdome technology, launched this year, increases the viewing angle of PTZ cameras by 20°, extending the display above the horizon line. Another common problem was also solved: raindrops that impede vision and stain the lens. Without using an external cleaner, the camera is released from the water by pressing the SpeedDry button on the control interface.
Another natural technical limitation of PTZ cameras is related to the field of view. When zooming in to look for a detail in the image, the camera necessarily stops visualizing the overall scenario. To meet the needs of customers who can't afford to continuously view a site even when they have to zoom in, AXIS Q6000-E was created this year, offering four lenses of 2 megapixels each, to cover an area of up to 20 km2. Compatible with all Q60 PTZ cameras, the Q6000-E ensures the display of a wide 360° environment on one screen, while the PTZ zooms in to see a detail on another screen in an integrated way.
In 2014, Axis launched high-performance PTZ cameras with a stainless steel protection case and pressurized with nitrogen. SAE316L stainless steel is resistant to corrosive effects of seawater and cleaning chemicals, including high-pressure steam, making them ideal for remote monitoring and surveillance applications on beaches and coastal areas, as the protective case is stainless. They are also ideal for the mining sectors and oil and gas environments, and for the food and medical industries.
In other cases, the enemy of PTZ cameras may be exposure to intense sun. In that case, the temperature inside the chamber can go from 15°C to an extreme temperature. In cities that record 45°C in summer, for example, the temperature inside the chamber can reach 60°C. For this reason, Axis cameras with active cooling operate at a temperature of up to 75°C.
"Together with other recent launches, the new Axis cameras reinforce the company's commitment to offering its customers a better variety of products in the PTZ camera market, with better performance and adequate prices," says Marcelo Ponte, Marketing Manager at Axis Communications. "Our PTZ portfolio continues to grow to meet any customer need, including critical environments, use of video analytics on roads and projects with a small budget," he says.
AXIS P5514 and AXIS P5515 cameras, and their respective models for outdoor use, are available on the market through Axis partners.
