Assa Abloy Unveils Strategic Seos Licensing Initiative

International. Assa Abloy announced that it will license its Seos mobile access platform to the broad ID and access management community, as well as app developers and consumers.

This powerful new platform will drive the development of a wide range of interoperable, secure and privacy-protecting mobile applications, which will allow businesses, governments and consumers secure access to their physical and virtual resources and adapt to any smart device.

Seos is the platform that meets the need for secure, privacy-protecting mobile access apps, which is already simplifying users' lives in universities, businesses, hotels and residential properties. By eliminating the need for multiple credentials (such as an access card or physical key), solutions based on the Seos platform are speeding up day-to-day transactions, such as check-in at hotels, access to government services, and entry into private residences.

"People around the world rarely leave home without their mobile devices. Seos gives them the ability to access everything from their residence to their place of work, using a single device, with security and privacy... A convenience that Seos provides on a large scale," said Denis Hébert, Executive Vice President of Assa Abloy and Head of HID Global, an Assa Abloy business.

Seos can communicate through multiple interfaces, including NFC (Near Field Communication) and Bluetooth, it has design features that allow any smart device, from phones to tablets to wearable devices (such as watches), to become a trusted credential. Applications based on the Seos platform do not reveal any unique identification codes to unauthorized readers, thus preventing their tracking and protecting privacy.

"We designed and built the Seos platform with security as a top priority," Hébert added, "so that users can be safe when using the technology and developers can take full advantage of these features."

Built based on a common interoperable standard, Seos allows smart devices from different manufacturers to speak the same language. It also employs tools that enable secure transactions and reliability between devices. "It's a revolutionary solution insofar as it doesn't compromise privacy in the name of security or comfort," Hébert concluded.
