EasyConnect, a new automatic IP address assignment feature for cameras

Latin America. Exacq Technologies launched the new EasyConnect IP camera automatic connection feature with version 6.4 of exacqVision, the video management software (VMS) system used for video surveillance.

EasyConnect offers the power of IP cameras with the simplicity of analog technology. Version 6.4 also brings the new videowall function "VideoPush", updates to the Exacq Mobile application and the client browser, as well as improvements to the Enterprise System Manager (ESM), a program that monitors the status of systems for use with network video servers (NVRs) of the Enterprise series.

The new EasyConnect feature allows users to find, assign addresses and connect multiple IP cameras to their network, all automatically. The exacqVision client scans the network for new IP cameras and assigns the selected cameras IP addresses, after which they are connected to a server. This feature saves time and greatly simplifies the process of setting up IP cameras to a modern network video surveillance solution.

EasyConnect is compatible with IP drives from various manufacturers. The company plans to expand compatibility to all or almost all major brands. Initially, with this update, support will be offered for Illustra, Axis Communications and Arecont Vision cameras, which together add up to more than 400 camera models.

"As more and more customers are adopting IP video, EasyConnect is one of the most important features ever incorporated into exacqVision," said Scott Dennison, chief marketing officer at Exacq Technologies. "EasyConnect simplifies IP video to such an extent that it's almost as easy as installing analog cameras."

VideoPush gives users of the exacqVision enterprise system the ability to instantly send a selection of cameras, compositions, tours, groups, or entire visualizations to another exacqVision client monitor, including but not limited to other users' monitors, or even a public display monitor (PVM).

Beyond the conventional videowall function, VideoPush allows you to configure any client to receive video and assign authorizations to end users to send video. Ideal for retail applications, VideoPush adds to the system the option of corporate video viewing between different locations and users.

The latest Exacq Mobile app (Version 3.8) for iOS, Android and Windows Phone 8 devices allows users to set up camera tours in order to regularly monitor important cameras. Additionally, the Exacq Mobile app has made camera selection easier. Now, the exacqVision web service provides support for SpeedSearch, a tool thanks to which it is considerably faster to get search results when using a browser client. This is an ideal solution for low bandwidth applications.

In addition, the new EasyConnect feature of exacqVision version 6.4 now supports more than 130 new IP cameras, including various "fisheye" or panoramic models. That means that today the exacqVision VMS is compatible with more than 2,000 models of IP cameras from the main manufacturers in the industry.

To access the exacqVision VMS you can use the exacqVision client software, freely distributed (Windows/Linux/Mac), the free exacqVision browser client, available for the main browsers (Google Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari and Opera) or through the free Exacq Mobile application for iOS devices, Android and Windows Phone 8. The VMS software comes with preconfigured NVR servers or can be installed on third-party Windows or Linux systems.
