Axis already offers Version 2.0 of free security software

altLatin America. Axis Communications presents a new version of the Axis Camera Companion (ACC) tool, a free software that allows the user to store the images on a NAS (Network-Attached Storage), instead of saving them on a server installed in the store or office. In this way, you have access to videos from up to 16 cameras remotely, preventing recordings from being destroyed or stolen by criminals.

The new version simplifies the process of sending images elsewhere. By avoiding storage on local hardware, images captured by Axis computers are more secure.  In addition, the cameras have space for a memory card of up to 64 GB, which makes it possible to store the images also within them.  In this way, each camera becomes an autonomous surveillance unit, adding reliability to the project.

In practice, these security measures also make the purchase of a digital video recorder (DVR) or computer unnecessary. Considering, for example, a store or a reception area, where a camera captures images at 30 frames per second in HDTV resolution 24 hours a day for 30 days, only a NAS with a capacity of about 350 GB would be needed for storage. Another option would be to record the images on the memory card of the camera itself, where they could be stored for about six days.

In addition, the ACC software offers the user a series of advanced professional resources, such as viewing the images of the cameras in different video qualities in mosaic format, highlighting a single camera in full screen and making PTZ movements with the mouse.

As the processing of the software occurs in the same camera, the user can turn off the computer and yet the recording continues, allowing access to the images whenever necessary. This is one of the main features that explain the rapid adoption of free software.

"More than 60,000 downloads have already been recorded since we launched Axis Camera Companion. People are beginning to perceive the advantages of professional software to free the user from dependence on a physical server installed in a local or office, "explains Sergio Fukushima, technical manager of Axis for South America.

The new version also includes digital zoom functionality in live and recorded video. Now users can take advantage of the growing range of HDTV cameras and, in addition, the 360° panoramic views offered by Axis fixed cameras, getting a great overview or detailed with just one camera.

Using HDTV IP cameras, small business owners or consortium managers can clearly identify intruders, thefts and other incidents. You can watch the video live and play the recordings anywhere, either inside the premises or remotely over the Internet.

The new Axis Camera Companion 2.0 software is available for free download on the site http://www.axis.com/products/cam_companion_software/index.htm

Axis Camera Companion won the highest ASIS Accolades Security award in the United States, Best Video Monitoring System at maximum Impact Awards. And, in Spain, it was awarded as Best Security Product in Futurshop 2012 Awards.
