Symantec revealed the launch of a service called Norton One in 2012, which will allow the user to protect their PC, Mac or mobile device, through a single subscription.
The price of the Norton One service, as well as the number and type of devices that are included, will be announced later, close to the release date.
This product takes two years of development and is expected to go a step beyond Norton 360, the security program that the company launched five years ago and that, despite being the most expensive on the market, is the one that sells the most, since in addition to security it offers optimization tools that allow users to accelerate their equipment.
The idea of Norton One, according to Jody Gibney, a member of Norton's product management group, is to provide a single solution for every device in a home. Symantec studies indicate that households have an average of 4.5 devices, and that a small percentage have seven, including computers, mobile terminals or tablets.
Norton One will be offered as a single subscription service capable of meeting the security needs of all devices, with a unique management system through an interface.
At the moment the company has not revealed the number of devices that will be covered with the basic subscription, only that the incorporation of new devices will increase the amount of the service and that the protection can move from an old computer to a new one, as long as the user registers the product and an account is created that allows the company to have control over their identity and that the license protects it. type of device.
