Latin America. Brazil, Mexico and Argentina are the Latin American countries where computer attacks originate the most, according to the report on computer security presented by Symantec.
The study also reveals that social networks are the preferred channels for the distribution of threats. Cyber-criminals seek acceptance or become followers of users to gain access to data and hack into their accounts.
The report highlights that attacks, even the least sophisticated, cause major flaws. There are cases in which intellectual property can be lost and cause irreparable physical damage and others, in which users are deceived into obtaining personal data that is ultimately used for criminal purposes.
The downloads of applications through mobile phones are another modality taken advantage of by them, as well as the abbreviated URLs and the fake antivirus programs that appear in the search engines.
