Europe. According to a study presented by IBMISS X-Force, Spain is the country from where the highest number of
pshishing emails were sent in 2007, (14.8%). This report claims that
phishing emails were controlled from botnets – which use computers remotely without their user's authorization – located in other countries. At the end of 2007, most cybercriminals used camouflage techniques to evade security software that prevents attacks on browsers, a technique that will increase in 2008.
Last year malware increased, so much so that IBM detected about 410,000 new malware samples, 30% more than in 2006, and Trojans and worms gained prominence, compared to other variants of malicious code such as downloads. On the other hand, spam decreased reaching the figures of 2005.
