Mexico. Executive Shadzel Badillo, new Sales Manager EAD of the dormakaba company, shares in this interview her expectations for her new position, as well as her vision of the security industry in Latin America.

Throughout the conversation, Shadzel underlined the importance of collaboration, innovation, and sustainability in the industry. In addition, he highlighted how dormakaba continues to reinvent itself to offer intelligent and reliable solutions, adapting to the growing demands of the market.

VENTAS DE SEGURIDAD: What does your recent appointment mean to you?
SHADZEL BADILLO: On a personal level, it is a great honor to be part of a company made up of such talented people with whom to genuinely share a purpose, mission, and culture geared toward providing security solutions of the highest order. For me, safety is a fundamental right, at dormakaba I have the opportunity to dedicate myself to this industry that I am so passionate about and to contribute to creating protected environments, but above all to work for a mission that is above all else: to protect and safeguard lives.

As a professional in this sector, taking on my new challenge entails a huge commitment since dormakaba is a world reference that has set the standards of the security industry. The company, in addition to being a pioneer in access control systems, reinvents itself every day to offer smart, reliable, sustainable, versatile solutions tailored to each need.

This position also allows me to apply my experience in a dynamic and cutting-edge environment, lead new initiatives and collaborate with various stakeholders. All of this will be key to the growth of my team and to the transformation of the industry by representing dormakaba as one of the major players in the industry.

VDS: What initiatives are you going to lead now?
SB:
At dormakaba, innovation and excellence are fundamental pillars, and from my role I will focus on strengthening and expanding our presence in the market through five initiatives that will contribute to profitability, operational efficiency and customer satisfaction:

  • Professionalization of the sector: Continuous training and certification are essential to ensure that our specialists and business partners are always up to date with the latest technologies. We will foster partnerships with the various associations to establish best practices in the industry and actively participate in events that promote knowledge and expertise. We are sure that these actions will have a positive impact at the company level and will drive the transformation of the sector.
  • Integrated and customized solutions: We will continue to work closely with our R+D, Engineering and Production teams to continue evolving and leading trends in access control, designing specific, integrated solutions and incorporating technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning and IoT, among others.
  • Top-notch customer experience: We want every interaction with dormakaba to be exceptional. Therefore, we will strengthen our customer service culture, optimizing processes and performance and feedback metrics to ensure smooth and satisfactory experiences at every touchpoint.
  • Expansion and diversification: We will seek new business opportunities in strategic sectors and emerging markets, strengthening our presence in the region through strategic alliances that allow us to offer innovative and scalable solutions.
  • Commitment to sustainability: Social responsibility and sustainability are key axes at dormakaba. We will continue to promote products and solutions certified by the most prestigious third-party certification bodies, which not only provide safety and efficiency, but are also environmentally responsible.

VDS: What are the company's expectations for the market's behavior this year?
SB: 2025 is shaping up to be a key year for the security and access control sector in Mexico and Latin America. The growing demand for more secure spaces is driving the need for smarter and more sophisticated access control systems that offer contactless solutions, biometric technologies, access with mobile devices, and greater integration with other physical and cyber security systems.

Thanks to our extensive history of more than 160 years, growing presence in 130 countries, more than 1,800 patents and the most complete portfolio of brands, products and high-security solutions for access control and door opening-closing, dormakaba is in a privileged position to capitalize and set market trends.

Fortunately, the political-economic landscape in Mexico is more stable compared to previous years, which is encouraging new investments and the reactivation of strategic projects that were stopped. This trend opens up significant opportunities for the growth of electronic security and access control solutions in various sectors such as corporate, industrial, hospitality, hospitality, transportation, and education, to name a few. At dormakaba we design access control solutions tailored to each project in all verticals and sectors, both public and private.

As for the international political scenario, let us not lose sight of the recent transition of power of the United States, which has brought with it the imposition of tariffs and the renegotiation of trade agreements with various countries, including Mexico.

Our country is a key player in world trade and continues to strengthen, although these measures could cause a strong economic impact to various economic and social sectors of all the countries involved, it is important to promote the relationship and negotiations both with our main trading partners, as well as with other nations. It is also important that as global companies and as business leaders we are always well informed about these issues, have specialized advice to make decisions and think about strategies to face various situations that may arise and thus adapt as quickly as possible to the changes that may arise to continue serving the market in the best way.
