Argentina. Since 1998, Aeropuertos Argentina, which is part of the Corporación América group, has been in charge of the design and administration of security systems at numerous airports throughout Argentina.
This company needed to implement a video security solution that was unified and flexible for multiple airports, capable of seamlessly integrating with a wide variety of video analytics and network camera applications. Similarly, it required video technology software that would guarantee end-to-end encryption, regardless of the brand or model of the cameras, in order to provide the highest level of protection for confidential data in the terminals.
The Power of Open Platform Architecture
To update the airport security system, after a thorough evaluation, Milestone Systems' XProtect VMS system, which operates under an open platform architecture, was selected to be implemented in several of the terminals that are in charge of Aeropuertos Argentina. This type of architecture allows the integration of cameras from different manufacturers and third-party analytics solutions, and centralizes operation from a unified interface to monitor and control cameras, analytics and alarms in real time, optimizing operations and response times.
"The Milestone VMS has marked a before and after for Aeropuertos Argentina. It allows us to integrate the best cameras, solutions and analytics tools, creating a comprehensive security system that adapts to the specific needs of each airport," said Juan Sebastián Charneca, technology consultant at Aeropuertos Argentina.
The Jorge Newbery Airport, in Buenos Aires, is one of the most outstanding projects of this modernization. Thanks to the compatibility between XProtect and AXIS Perimeter Defender, the perimeter of this terminal is now protected with a solution that automatically detects suspicious movements of people or vehicles and issues alerts in real time, significantly improving the response to potential threats.
As advanced analytics tools such as people counting and heat maps are integrated, the system can provide terminal managers with valuable insights into passenger flow and behavior. This data-driven approach allows the organization to optimize space distribution and staff and resource allocation, ultimately improving the passenger experience and streamlining operations.
A long-term vision
Thinking about the future, Aeropuertos Argentina is exploring the possibility of integrating new analytics tools, such as facial and license plate recognition, to reinforce security and optimize efficiency. It also assesses the potential of cloud solutions, having tested XProtect with AWS and seen promising results. As the country's airports grow and evolve, Aeropuertos Argentina is confident that the XProtect solution will provide the flexibility and scalability needed to anticipate future challenges.
"The flexibility of the open platform ensures that we can incorporate new technologies and adapt to changes in security, protecting our investment in the long term. Thanks to Milestone, we are confident that we will be able to strengthen security at Argentina's airports, both now and in the future," concluded Juan Sebastián Charneca.
