Mexico. This illicit activity has increased by 9.15% compared to 2023, a year where AI27, a company that uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) to provide security to cargo transport, estimated 14,600 robberies of carriers.
Thus, 15,937 cargo transport robberies are estimated in Mexico during 2024, with the states of the State of Mexico with 25%, Puebla with 21% and San Luis Potosí with 12% having the highest crime incidence.
"Thanks to the fact that we monitor more than 3,000 trips a day, we have accurate data on which we base this estimate, which is 9.15% more than what we recorded last year, which shows the need to bet on technology to combat this problem," said Alejandro García, Director of New Products at AI27.
Likewise, according to company data, the most stolen units during 2024 were trailers, full and 5-ton ≤trucks between 6:00 p.m. and 12:00 p.m. the most used time to commit these crimes. As for more dangerous roads, highway 150D, Amozoc - La Esperanza tops the list.
Given this situation, in a context where highway robberies represent a constant challenge for the safety of carriers, it is essential to adopt advanced technological solutions such as Elías, the only virtual assistant in the world, based on AI, 100% Mexican, developed by AI27, which reduces theft in the sector by more than 90%.
"Insecurity on roads continues to increase, putting the operation and assets of carriers at risk. Against this backdrop, predictive tools such as Elías, based on Artificial Intelligence, become essential to detect risks in real time and guarantee safety on each trip," said Héctor Polti, Director of Digital Transformation at AI27.
Elías allows you to monitor routes in real time, detect risks in advance and optimize communication with operators. With its ability to analyze large volumes of data and respond immediately, this technology becomes a key tool to prevent losses, ensure cargo safety, and reduce operating costs.
Likewise, this solution can recognize a feint code, a word that the operator receives before leaving on a trip, thus shortening the response time if he is in a vulnerable situation.
"At AI27 we are committed to technological innovation to transform safety on Mexico's roads. Our mission is to ensure that each cargo and operator arrives at its destination safely, optimizing resources and protecting those who move the economy," said Alejandro García.
The insecurity data obtained thanks to AI27 reveals an alarming picture for hauliers, with a constant increase in the risks of theft and loss on the roads.
This information highlights the need for effective solutions, it also opens the way to the opportunity to protect the roads of countries with challenges similar to those of Mexico such as Chile, Colombia, Ecuador and some regions of Central America. For this reason, next year, AI27 will expand its technological solutions to these nations.
"These countries share similar difficulties on their roads, and we are convinced that our AI-based solution will be key to protecting their supply chains and reducing risks. Our expansion responds to the commitment to bring technological innovation to all of Latin America, adapting to the specific needs of each market," concluded Héctor Polti.
