ASIS announces Latin America and the Caribbean regional board for 2025

ASIS anuncia la junta regional de América Latina y el Caribe para 2025

Latin America. ASIS International announced the selection of its leadership team from the Latin America and Caribbean Regional Board (LACRB), which will take office from January 2025.

Following an exhaustive nomination and selection process, the board represents a cross-section of security industry leaders from across the Latin American and Caribbean region. The announcement was made during the ASIS LATAM & CA 2024 Integrated Security Congress taking place in Costa Rica.

Gerardo de Lago, CPP, Mexico, Chair of the LACRB Nominating Committee, noted: "The quality of the candidates this year was outstanding, highlighting the growing strength and professionalism of our Latin American and Caribbean security community. This new board combines an ideal combination of industry experience, volunteer experience, and regional knowledge essential to the advancement of our profession. It has been an honor and privilege to play this role during such a pivotal time in our association's history."

Pablo Colombres, CPP, Argentina, who served as the inaugural president of the LACRB in 2024, has been appointed to the position of secretary-treasurer of the ASIS International Global Board of Directors, effective January 2025. In light of this new appointment, Colombres will step down as president of the LAC Regional Board. In his role as secretary-treasurer, Colombres will serve as a member of the Executive Committee of the Global Board. The appointment of Colombres as the first Latin American to hold the position of secretary-treasurer at ASIS International highlights the organization's strong commitment to global inclusion and the expansion of its reach and influence in various regions. This milestone underscores ASIS International's dedication to fostering a truly global perspective in safety leadership.

LACRB members who will take up their positions in January 2025 include:

  • Chair: Marco Vega, CPP, Costa Rica – 2-year term
  • Vice President: Tatiana Scatena, Brazil – 2-year term
  • Secretary/Treasurer: Alvar Orellana McBride, CPP, Chile – 2-year term

Managing Directors:

  • Carlos Contreras, Mexico – 3-year term.
  • Lyle Alexander, CPP, Trinidad and Tobago – 3-year term.
  • José Wilson Massa, CPP, Brazil – 3-year term.

Completing The board will be comprised of these leaders who will continue their tenure in 2025:

  • Basil Bewry, CPP, PCI, PSP, Jamaica, At-Large Director.
  • Herbert Calderon, CPP, PCI, PSP, Peru, At-Large Director.
  • Servio Camey, CPP, Guatemala, At-Large Director.
  • Dora Cortes, CPP, Mexico, At-Large Director.

Oatridge, CPP, president of ASIS International in 2024. "Their combined experience and broad regional representation will be invaluable in addressing the unique security challenges and opportunities within this vibrant region. We extend our deepest thanks to Pablo Colombres, CPP for his leadership and dedication, which have been instrumental in shaping and strengthening our regional community."

The LACRB nominating committee was comprised of the following individuals:

  • Julieta Muñoz Conejo, CPP, Mexico.

The board will focus on strengthening regional collaboration, promoting professional development opportunities, and addressing emerging security challenges across the Latin American and Caribbean region.
