Colombia. Thanks to hundreds of surveillance cameras, the municipality of Sabaneta, located in the northwest of the country, has one of the safest and most modern monitoring centers nationwide.
At a reported cost of 20 billion Colombian pesos (approximately 4.5 million dollars), the infrastructure is based on the synchronization of 250 cameras: an LPR surveillance suite for license plate detection and real-time vehicle information collection; as well as a PTZ camera system with 360° view that allows operators to be provided with panoramic and close-up views to observe faces and details.
In this way, and taking into account that the territorial jurisdiction of Sabaneta is only 15 square kilometers, the municipality becomes the most video-monitored per square meter in the entire country. Additionally, citizens have 66 IP speakers installed on each camera pole, thanks to which the authorities can alert, monitor and send messages to citizens.
The infrastructure also includes a crisis room where important events that arise are attended through the unified command posts, in addition to a rest room for visualizers and radio operators that cover shifts 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
