Colombia. During the event, to be held in Barranquilla from September 18 to 20, key issues such as social inclusion will be addressed, with a focus on the work carried out by hundreds of companies in the sector.
"Collaboration between public institutions, private companies and civil society is key to ensuring human security that not only protects life and
property, but also promotes community well-being and environmental sustainability. This congress seeks to be a space for dialogue and proposals to build a safer and more resilient future for all Colombians," says César Rodríguez, president of the National Council of Private Security, the organizer of the congress.
On the other hand, Oscar Mauricio Lizcano, Minister of Information and Communications Technologies, will talk about the importance of the implementation of technologies to strengthen security in the country. In addition, a discussion on national security will be held that will bring together governors, mayors of the main cities, senators and guests such as Claudia López, former mayor of Bogotá; Mauricio Cárdenas, former Minister of Finance; Juvenal Díaz Mateus, governor of Santander; María Fernanda Cabal, senator; Mauricio Gómez Amin, senator; Nicolás Albeiro Echeverry, senator; José Jaime Uzcátegui, representative; Juan Guillermo Zuluaga, former Governor of Meta, among other guests.
On September 20, the last day of the congress, conferences will be held on topics such as labor reform and its impact on private security, risk analysis in surveillance companies, and public policies on citizen security. SARLAFT 2.0 and strategies to face security threats in the urban environment will also be discussed.
Rodríguez added: "The 2024 National Security Congress not only offers a space to discuss strategies, but also for all of us to understand the fundamental role we play in building a safer and more sustainable environment."
According to the organizers, this congress represents an opportunity to strengthen the joint work between the different actors involved in Colombia's security: the National Police, the Army, the unions, private security companies, and the various government entities, through the implementation of advanced technologies and collaborative strategies in the field of citizen intelligence.
