Colombia. The authorities put in place the modern infrastructure to strengthen security, coexistence and emergency response in Itagüí, a municipality belonging to the metropolitan area of Medellín.
The main objective of the agreement was to expand the coverage of municipal closed circuit television, with security cameras located at strategic points in both urban and rural areas.
With a total investment of US $6.7 million, which includes a 2-year maintenance period, this project represents a commitment to the safety and well-being of the nearly 300 thousand inhabitants of this city.
The commissioning of 300 new cameras (for a total of 695) distributed in 275 key points of the city is one of the pillars of this initiative. Among these, 50 LPR system cameras stand out, which allow the registration and real-time monitoring of all vehicles that travel on the main roads of Itagüí.
Likewise, 250 PTZ cameras (Pan, Tilt and Zoom) have been arranged, including 100 Tandembuk, whose main feature is to have a permanent viewing angle of 180°, guaranteeing comprehensive and effective surveillance.
To support this advanced security system, 104,453 meters of fiber optics have been installed, ensuring the interconnection of the entire system and its operation in real time.
The new monitoring center has 10 workstations equipped with 10 CPUs and 20 displays. In addition, the video wall is composed of 15 55" monitors, allowing comprehensive and coordinated surveillance with the Ministry of Security, the Ministry of Mobility, the Ministry of the Environment, the National Police and Firefighters.
In each shift, 10 police officers will be dedicated to attending to citizen requirements, collecting evidentiary material for judicial investigations.
"The implementation of technological aids to combat crime in the city allows us to have evidentiary material that contributes to the prosecution. In addition, this allows for 24-hour surveillance over every corner of the city and easily deploy personnel to attend to an emergency," added Diego Torres Sánchez, mayor of the city.
