Adquieren tecnología

Argentina. The Ministry of Security and Justice invested US $558,000 in video surveillance cameras and computers for 200 patrol cars of the Mendoza Police.

The project includes the incorporation of various technologies and systems, transforming police vehicles into management units with mobile video surveillance points. The authorities also specified that, in addition to the video surveillance system with external and internal cameras, each patrol also has an on-board computer.

"They have the capacity to process videos and broadcast live, visualize the cartography having the data for the displacement to the event, where the shortest or fastest route will be indicated in real time in an expeditious way, being able from the CEO to also view the videos to provide the directives for each type of boarding," said the Undersecretary of Technology Applied to Security, Leandro Biskupovich.

"The innovation of the technology acquired lies in the integration with the Police's own systems and new operational functionalities of the Strategic Operations Center (CEO) through the modules incorporated into the new 911 Emergency System. It also gives the street police the possibility of accessing in real time integrated national and provincial databases for the identification of people and domains," the official added.

Within the framework of the awarded project, the integration of the mobile video surveillance system with the automatic license plate recognition system will also be implemented in a percentage of the patrols.

"This will enhance the results of operational maneuvers and investigative and intelligence tasks, as well as the contribution of images as digital evidence for the resolution of cases. From this point of view, all this technology has generated radical changes in the planning of patrol schemes and in preventive policies against crime, allowing human and technological resources to be optimized according to the demand of citizens and the criminal dynamics of the various jurisdictions," Biskupovich concluded.
