Mexico. The security company Alai Secure closed the first half of the year with a positive balance, after having started its operation in Mexico last March.
Through an official statement, the company recalled that its entry into the Mexican market coincided with the realization of the Expo Seguridad Mexico fair. In this event, the firm had the opportunity to debut as an exhibitor, presenting its offer of services in the area of Telco security, as well as its commercial expansion plan in the region for the next two years.
Ricardo Orjuela, Regional Sales Manager of Alai Secure Latam referred to the issue stating that "it was a discovery. Although it is a mature market, we have found a huge demand for M2M / IoT connectivity solutions in everything that has to do with mobile communications, in the private security vertical itself and in others such as manufacturers and providers of push to talk (PTT) solutions. The latter are strengthening their tetra communications systems with the incorporation of GSM (3G and 4G) communications."
Last June the company incorporated Mauro Rangel Orihuela as the new Account Manager to lead the commercial operation in the country. "Mexico has a relatively strong network infrastructure, especially in urban areas and tourist areas. Its wide network coverage and connectivity make it easy to implement IoT solutions and that's where we come in," he says.
"Compared to the rest of the countries in which we are present: Colombia, Chile, Peru and Ecuador, Mexico has experienced a higher level of adoption of IoT technologies in various sectors, such as agriculture, transport and smart cities. This is due, in part, to growing awareness of the potential benefits of IoT and government and business support to drive digitalization and innovation."
Mexico, dotting in technology
According to the World Intellectual Property Organization, Mexico is in the Top 3 of the Global Innovation Index of Latam, after Chile and Brazil, which makes it the spearhead in technological vanguard for the region.
The country has implemented regulations for IoT and connectivity that provide a clear legal framework for companies operating in this arena. Likewise, the Federal Institute of Telecommunications (IFT) has presented the Exploratory Analysis of the Commercialization of Connectivity Service for IoT in Mexico, whose objective is to evaluate the current panorama and the challenges faced by the IoT industry.
In this sense, 369 IoT service offerings were identified, highlighting those that incorporate IoT to the manufacturing industry, asset tracking and management, in addition to those that focus on defense, security and access control.
Mauro Rangel Orihuela points out that the government has recognized the opportunities offered by this technology to improve operational efficiency, data-based decision-making and the creation of new business models.
"Mexico has experienced significant growth in the implementation of M2M/IoT solutions in recent years and, although it is still in a development stage, there is potential for growth. As awareness and demand continue to increase, along with government support and favorable regulations, this technology is expected to continue to expand in the coming years and from Alai Secure we will seize this opportunity."
