United States. During the ISC West 2023 we had the opportunity to interview Luis Arturo Chávez Cadena, sales director for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean of the company IDIS Global, who shared one of the novelties that surprised in this event, a video surveillance solution with 360-degree range, but without distortion in the view option.
This fisheye video surveillance option plays video with a range of 360 degrees, reaching important angles of interest, but with a comfortable view and without distortion, which once zoomed in on the image (which previously appears in the form of a circle or marble) allows you to see as if you were recording with a camera totally front to the image (that is, it happens to be seen in a traditional box).
Simply put, a single, powerful IDIS camera allows you to look at a wide area from different points of view. It is important to note that this solution is already available for Latin America.
Regarding this year's participation, the number of people stood out, in a comparison with 2022. "Things are taking their place again a little bit after what the pandemic is. Last year was very quiet and this time we have received many people again from different parts, in this case from Latin America, and the Caribbean, even from outside the continent."
Another important fact, shared by Luis Arturo, is that the brand as such is barely 5 years old. However, it has created a new revolution in video security with its proposal that modifies the way video is managed.
For the sales director the evolution occurs because previously the fisheye type cameras, which can record 360 degrees, "people approached and saw only heads. So, that was not well received. The taste that the vast majority of people have is that the fish eye does not attract much attention, because it distorts the image." Then, he stressed that in that sense IDIS has been kind enough to offer a technology that he calls "product with wow factor", because every time all his demonstration is made, the client's opinion changes by demonstrating the opportunity to make better protections, because it delivers a view in an understandable and comfortable format in the angles of interest, But it also allows you to check projection lines.
That is, the flagship solution of the IDIS exhibitor allows you to review in real time in 360 degrees, but also in the past tense. In short, a single small camera can cover large areas with a comfortable video format, something relevant for banks, but also logistics centers and retail sector.
