International. In 1976 the Calgary Herald (Ontario, Canada) published that the theft of shopping carts in that locality was a few thousand dollars at a cost of $ 60 per unit. In 2020, Church and Market Safeway reported the theft of 160 cars in one month.
This reality still applies causing significantly greater losses today when the price of each cart easily exceeds $ 100.
Theft and loss of shopping carts is a big problem. Not only for the supermarket, which spends a lot of money on buying new carts of this type, but also for the surroundings of the supermarket, where shopping carts roam and cause damage to cars, bicycles and motorcycles.
What is the problem?
In Argentina a retail store can suffer the loss of 10 shopping carts per week. This represents a major headache for the operation, an additional responsibility for security personnel and an obvious economic decline.
What is the solution?
At Netcamara we set out to solve this problem by applying AI models. Use technology to solve an old and familiar problem.
To prevent the theft of shopping carts, Netcamara has developed a video analytics with artificial intelligence model, which will throw an alert to the monitoring center or via Telegram, when the shopping cart is detected in an area defined by the customer and that is feasible to steal.
