Mexico. Municipal authorities of Nezahualcóyotl, State of Mexico, began the installation of 525 video surveillance cameras, of the more than a thousand that they have contemplated installing in various parts of the municipal territory, mainly in primary avenues, educational spaces and areas of greater concentration of people.
The first team was placed at the intersection of Adolfo López Mateos and Bordo de Xochiaca avenues, in front of La Salle University, where Mayor Juan Zepeda Hernández explained that the cameras will be installed in schools, markets, churches, shopping centers, hospitals, clinics, dairies, among others.
He said that in a first stage 525 video surveillance cameras will be installed in 175 points that have been detected as favorable sites for the commission of criminal acts.
He explained that in each of the poles, which are already arranged, three cameras will be placed: two that will be fixed pointing to opposite sides, while the third will have 360-degree mobility.
In addition, the devices are equipped with infrared rays, which allow visibility with optimal clarity at night. A panic button was also attached, which when activated alerts the C-4 personnel about a probable emergency, while the cameras make approaches and the one with mobility makes records from all angles to detect the alert situation.
He assured that the installation of this technology is part of a security program that is being implemented in the town, which goes hand in hand with the improvement of public lighting, the renovation of camellones, streets, avenues, parks and gardens; as well as the recovery of public spaces and green areas, in addition to the reorganization and adaptation of a new public security system.
The director of municipal Public Security, Jorge Amador Amador, said that in this matter the police elements are being prepared and educated, because not only with weapons is how the fight against crime will be won, but also with knowledge, disposition and attitude so that they can resolve minor conflicts between neighbors, thus avoiding the unnecessary burden in the judicial instances, in addition to generating the good relationship between them.
