Latin America. The new face blurring feature has been incorporated by Axis Communications into AXIS Live Privacy Shield, a camera software with on-device analytics that hides faces in real time in video streams at the maximum frame rate.
The company explained that this last novelty offers the possibility of applying different protection mechanisms, since it allows to hide whole people or only their faces, or hide everything else. It brings even more value and possibilities to this software that currently allows you to apply dynamic masks based on movement and also on AI.
With AI-based masks, an option compatible with multiple Axis cameras with deep learning processing unit (DLPU), the app analyzes live video to locate human shapes and offers users the ability to apply masks to people, their faces or the background, in places with restricted access. Users can schedule when privacy protection should be applied or removed, for example if they want to activate it from Monday to Friday and remove it on weekends.
AXIS Live Privacy Shield compares a view from a live camera to a background scene and applies dynamic masks to changing areas, basically people and moving objects. Users can apply tiled masks or in a transparent color and can also choose the level of protection needed and the frequency of automatic background updates. Colored masks are the ones that provide more privacy, since they prevent obtaining personal data and, at the same time, allow you to observe the movements. Mosaic masks show moving objects at a very low resolution and help to better distinguish shapes by allowing you to see the colors of an object.
This software is designed for remote monitoring or indoor video recording where surveillance is problematic because of the regulations that regulate privacy. Thanks to the dynamic mask function, it is ideal for short-distance indoor and outdoor scenes, in places such as hospitals, nursing homes, hotels, educational centers, offices and shops.
AXIS Live Privacy Shield is available worldwide. The new face blurring feature is included in the latest firmware update, 10.11, as well as the latest version of AXIS Live Privacy Shield, available via Axis.com in the second quarter of 2022.
