The attendees were sensitized about the new ways of operating of kidnapping and blackmail, their projection and trends in the new methods of surveillance, forms of plagiarism, amounts of negotiation and styles of action of the extortionist during the last months. At the end, the presentation was complemented with a reflective study of the endogenous and exogenous factors that detonate the current narcoviolence that affects most of the communities and the economic sector of the country.

ASIS Breakfast Mexico Chapter August

Having as its central theme "The war against drug trafficking and organized crime. Is there another alternative?", the popular journalist Eduardo Ruiz-Healy appeared as a special guest at the breakfast of ASIS Mexico chapter.
The journalist presented himself to the event with a work supported by forceful information through which he exposed the advantages and disadvantages that have historically been obtained at the time of establishing this type of measures in countries such as the Netherlands; while on the other hand, the negative balance resulting from the prohibition of other stimulants such as cigarettes and alcohol was presented simultaneously, in particular during the prohibition stage in the middle of the last century in the United States.
Ruiz-Healy was very emphatic in warning that the use of substances such as alcohol or tobacco, currently generate more deaths per year than all prohibited drugs, which have generated real public health problems in the country, however when talking about illicit drugs, the phenomenon is judged as Public Security. The presentation would be especially controversial, since without prior agreement, President Felipe Calderón addressed the issue later and would pronounce himself in favor of the discussion of the legalization of drugs.
