Learn how G4S works with banks in Ecuador

G4S Ecuador

Ecuador. G4S announced how it has been performing in Ecuador as a security provider for banks. The brand highlighted its combination of highly trained people and its proprietary software application: CVP (Virtual Mail Control) to provide its security offering.

"For several years we have developed our security control room application that is used by all our people on the ground and by our customers," said Elsa Zurita, G4S Commercial Director in Ecuador. "In real time, our team can communicate the latest information related to different operation sites across the country and provide relevant information that our customers need to know."

CVP is operated on a mobile device, such as a phone or tablet, and the customer can be updated instantly about an ongoing incident and the actions G4S is taking. Many banks have multiple operating sites across the country, including branches, retail banks, and ATM sites.

G4S uses a variety of technology and people to protect different buildings. Alarm monitoring is widely used and is monitored and coordinated through G4S's central control room in Quito. Any alerts that are triggered are notified to the relevant G4S and the banking customer team so that quick action can be taken, when necessary.

Guayaquil Bank
One bank customer, Banco Guayaquil, has 143 sites across the country that G4S protects. G4S has around 180 trained security officers who provide services to the bank, as well as specialists in protective services, who accompany and protect senior members of the bank's team when they travel to and from work and when they travel abroad.

A highly intuitive and Android-based system, CVP is easy for everyone who uses it to get acquainted with it very quickly. Staff use it to update "quick task forms," which capture data for shift transfers, multiple assignments for that day, virtual logbooks, and visitor access control. It also has an instant messaging system, among many other features.

"CVP allows clients to keep track in real time of the information collected by our operational staff, as well as the visits made by supervisors. This gives them a complete view of all the services we provide and reinforces trust," Elsa said.

"We work for several of the largest banks in Ecuador because we provide a very different and much more sophisticated proposal than others and we do it in all the territories of Ecuador," Elsa said. "Our customers, who can be themselves part of multinationals, expect the highest standards from their partners. We meet rigorous international standards in our finances and in the training and employment of our staff, often exceeding government regulations."

Data interrogation
Data can be collected and reported in relation to many different movements of people, vehicles and suppliers at a given site, and G4S specialists monitor and interrogate this vast repository of information for anomalies and potential concerns 24 hours a day. All information is stored in the cloud, reducing processing times. The software also allows the seamless integration of other technologies into the CVP, depending on the specific needs of customers.

During the Covid 19 pandemic, additional features were added to the CVP app, allowing all communications to be shared directly with G4S employees, so they know what to do in any situation.

"If an employee gets sick, they can let us know through the app and we can provide support if needed," Elsa said. "Our employees can also manage all of their information and employment benefits through CVP, which is safe and secure. They can also contact the HR team if they have any questions."

Asset Management
Through the app, customers can keep track of their many assets, such as laptops, phones, ATMs, and computers and other valuable equipment. Customers can download reports in a variety of formats so they know where their assets are. Each asset is equipped with a QR code that allows the CVP to track in real time the exact location of the equipment, with the support of GPS capabilities.

"Customers can assess compliance quickly and easily, using the statistics we provide to generate their own reports, which means they can react to an emergency situation or incident related to their assets quickly and hand in hand with G4S colleagues," said Elsa. Customers tell us that CVP helps them continuously strengthen their internal security controls and procedures, as the application is always tailored to their diverse and often complex needs."
