Infosecurity Mexico 2020 was announced for May

Mexico. The event confirmed that its next edition will be held on May 20 and 21 at the citibanamex Center in Mexico City.

Juan Manuel Rodríguez Ospina, Show Director of Infosecurity Mexico, commented that this cybersecurity event is held in an environment in which there is a growing number of attacks on a greater number of industries or economic sectors, which result in loss of information, vulnerability in equipment and systems, ransomware attacks, identity theft, among other damages.

"Five years ago, when Infosecurity started, there was little talk of cybersecurity in the country, and although the industries remain the same, industrial and business processes are becoming more digitized, while e-commerce is increasing. This implies a risk in the integrity of the information and equipment and, therefore, we want to bring together in Infosecurity Mexico the main brands in the market, who will present their solutions and products, in addition to showing trends, analyzing cases and sharing knowledge. This is an event for all companies and for professionals who handle data and information," explained Rodríguez Ospina.

The importance of this event lies in the fact that cybersecurity represents a risk for Mexico if it is not attended by the public and private sectors. According to specialists[1], one of the threats faced by countries is the growing cyber dependence that increases vulnerability, due to the possible interruption of critical services and affectations to the information infrastructure (for example, internet, satellites, etc.) and networks, causing widespread interruption, in addition to the generation of cyberattacks or large-scale malware that would cause great damage, geopolitical tensions or loss of trust in the internet, in addition to the extraction of private or official data that would take place on an unprecedented scale.

For this reason, according to the show director of Infosecurity Mexico, the event seeks to bring together exhibitors, visitors and speakers in the same space, "So that we can continue to develop the industry while offering access to very high-level talks, to learn what has happened even in other parts of the world and what we can implement in Mexico", especially if you consider that 83% of Mexican companies are victims of cyberattacks at least once a year, which places our country in the top ten with the most cyberattacks.

It should be noted that the organizers of this event, owned by Reed Exhibitions Mexico, have been concerned to consider the experiences of previous editions, which have been expressed by their visitors, exhibitors and speakers where, among other findings, they have found that at a general level there is a lack of personnel specialized in cybersecurity, due in part to the fact that there is a strong demand for the rapid changes that happen in the computer field.

In fact, the cybersecurity industry is reportedly facing a jobs crisis. It is estimated that India alone will require two million more professionals in the next two years, and the global estimate is 3.5 million by 2022, although salaries are aligning with these demands, with graduate-level analyst positions in the United States reaching $100,000 per year. the highest of all professions.

"That is why at Infosecurity Mexico we want to promote not only the market, but also the dissemination of knowledge and support in the training of certified personnel. We know that there are people who are developing because there is an attractive professional field, but more professionals are needed for network monitoring, for mobile devices, for infrastructure. Before, companies had a single analyst, today they need five or more," said Juan Manuel Rodríguez, who added that they are also approaching the academy to complement their concept.

Finally, the main director of the event indicated that in the next edition they will seek to reach 6,500 m2 of exhibition. "Which represents 20% more than the previous edition and, although the industry grows between 10% and 15% per year, we seek to go beyond that percentage based on the presence of high-level exhibitors, world-renowned speakers and a series of new activities that we already have scheduled and that we will announce soon."
