The Latin American Security Association announces the winners of the 2016 ALAS Award

Latin America. The ALAS Award is the distinction given each year by the Latin American Security Association – ALAS to organizations and individuals who have stood out for implementing highly innovative projects, with positive social and economic impacts for the security of people, property and property in Latin America and the Caribbean. In its third edition, the ALAS Award received projects in the public and private categories.

The security solution for attendees of the Atanasio Girardot Stadium in Medellin, Colombia and the America Free Zone (AFZ)  in the province of Heredia, Costa Rica, were chosen in first place in the categories public project and private project respectively.
The winning projects will be recognized on July 27 and 28 during the ALAS Management Summit, the academic event that will bring together in Miami the managers and decision makers of the security areas and main security companies in Latin America.

Category Public Projects
In this category the winner was the "Safe Stadium" solution for attendees at the Atanasio Girardot Stadium in Medellin, Colombia. The project arose as a response to the security problems caused by the popular bars of the city's football teams and by improper behavior in this type of scenario.

The solution proposed by ROBOTEC Colombia integrates a robust CCTV system with high-resolution cameras and a biometric recognition system, which together allow monitoring, control and follow-up of people in all spaces of the stadium, reducing situations of risk and improper behavior, as well as allowing the creation of blacklists, the generation of alarms and the scaling of information to control bodies.

The center began operations in 1999 and its growing list of tenants is made up mostly of multinational companies, which are characterized by rigorous requirements in all areas, especially in the management of security.

To meet the expectations of its tenants, AFZ carried out a complete security project in which they included intrusion systems, theft, perimeter protection; CCTV CCTV systems, cameras, recorders, management software, video analytics applications; access control systems, including readers, windlasses, biometrics; fire detection and protection systems and evacuation audio; Integrated security systems and advanced technological alternatives in security systems.

The winning projects will be recognized and will have the opportunity to present the case studies during the ALAS Management Summit, the highest Latin American event aimed at the managers of the security areas of the main Latin American companies, as well as the decision makers of the manufacturers, integrators and distributors of security products and solutions.
