Boon Edam Resumes On-Site Security Entry Reviews

Boon EdamUnited States. Boon Edam announced the resumption of on-site entry assessments, a building or campus analysis that helps security managers create a defensible physical security entry strategy against the costly liabilities associated with tailgating and piggybacking (hackers' ways of gaining access to restricted areas).

These evaluations have proven to be critical to the success of entry projects. During the COVID pandemic, to support community health and safety, Boon Edam moved from conducting on-site assessments to virtual assessments. Now, with the relaxation of COVID restrictions in the United States, Boon Edam is resuming in-person and on-site entry screenings.

An assessment to uncover vulnerable entry points
Initially, Boon Edam began offering consultative income assessments with the recognition that each facility has a unique set of risks, resources, and capital. In addition to this, security inputs offer a wide range of intrusion mitigation capabilities; they are not a one-size-fits-all solution. Turnstiles, security revolving doors, and protection portals differ in several categories, ranging from security level and guard needs to capital and operational expenses. Because security inputs are an important investment, it is critical that security professionals understand the differences between the types of tickets to better align with their physical security strategy.

Entry assessments are "tours" conducted by experienced entry experts traversing a building or campus with the client's security team and other stakeholders. The goal is to define vulnerable entry points and discuss other unique but critical concerns. These may include performance requirements, available monitoring, and industry compliance; the current need for "contactless" entry to minimize germs and promote social distancing; local safety codes for emergency exits and ADA compliance; and how existing security technologies such as access control systems, cameras, etc. will be integrated with entry solutions.

A complete and actionable input evaluation report
At the end of the assessment, Boon Edam's entry experts develop a comprehensive summary with recommendations for improvement, including:

The current state of customer security as it relates to entry, as well as the specific regulatory needs of their industry or organization.
A review of each entry location that requires a physical barrier and the recommended solution based on the security objectives discussed.
Custom photographic representations of each entry location to help the customer visualize what the input solutions discussed on your site will look like.

"It's always amazing to see what is discovered during an evaluation and how often a decision or assumption can change after a big discussion. We have always placed considerable emphasis on education and consultation on security tickets, and as COVID-19 threatened to reduce our ability to conduct these invaluable assessments, we were able to switch and offer virtual assessments," says Greg Schreiber, senior vice president of sales. at Boon Edam Inc. "Now, with the easing of COVID restrictions, we continue to offer virtual assessments, but we are very excited to resume in-person entry assessments as organizations begin to accept visits from third-party providers."

Schreiber further notes that all entry evaluations are solely for the determination of best practices around the entrances at the facilities being evaluated. The assessment does not include a full vulnerability and threat assessment, usually conducted by a security consulting firm.

To request an entry assessment at your facility or campus, visit the Boon Edam website and fill out the form for an entry expert to contact you: https://content.boonedam.us/request-an-entry-evaluation
