Odata installs its first data center in Mexico

Mexico. Odata, a brazilian company, announced the construction of its first data center in Mexico to offer neutral connectivity and colocation solutions, that is, hosting of privately owned servers and network equipment in IT rooms.

With an initial investment of more than 100 million dollars, ODATA's data center in Mexico is located in the state of Querétaro, which is an important technological and industrial hub, as well as the headquarters of the main data centers in the country. The property will have a total of 52,350 m2 of land, 30,400 m2 of built area and will have the latest technology in design and construction of data centers, energy redundancy with various electrical substations, power generators and state-of-the-art cooling equipment.

"Our data center will have a load capacity that will reach up to 32 megawatts (MW), an unprecedented feature in the country, which will allow scalability to customers, adapting to their growth and allowing expansions quickly, safely, with redundancy of energy and cutting-edge technology," says Adrián Ramírez, director of implementation of ODATA in Mexico.

The construction of the data center project in Mexico called DC QR01 is progressing as planned. Currently, 8 of the 32 MW of capacity are already contracted and the first building will be ready to start operations in the fourth quarter of 2021.

As a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, other large companies in the telecommunications, financial, education and health sectors are also investing in IT infrastructure to protect the generation of value and ensure the long-term sustainability of their businesses.

For this type of companies that need to grow their capacity to transport more data, be closer to the end user and reduce latency to a range of 4 to 20 milliseconds, the new data center of Odata de México will be an excellent alternative for its strategic location in the center of the country with access to the best technological infrastructure, as well as the speed of implementation of Odata with high quality standards. "For any new requirement, we can realize the expansion in very agile times," says Ricardo Arévalo, general director of ODATA in Mexico.

Odata, founded in 2015 and with four data centers already in operation in Brazil and Colombia and two more new projects in Santiago de Chile and Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), begins its expansion in Mexico with the best practices of the industry at a global level and the solid financial support of Pátria Investimentos, an alternative asset management firm in Latin America and a strategic technological partnership with CyrusOne, the third largest data center service provider in the United States.

"Arriving in Mexico was the next logical step in our expansion process in the region. As the second largest market for information technology in Latin America, the digital transformation of companies has become a guiding principle of great relevance," says Ricardo Alário, CEO of Odata.
