Best Technologies Discusses Move to Non-Contact Technology for Revenue Control

Best TechnologiesLatin America. How to move from contact technology (fingerprint reader, visitor cards, etc.) to non-contact technology (QR, ID cards, facial recognition) for income control?

Until a few months ago, thinking about contactless technology for visitor registration was not a priority for companies and their security areas. Having people access the premises by putting their fingerprint or a card was just as practical as scanning a QR code.

The difference was that a company that had a QR reader or facial recognition was perceived as a company at the forefront of technology and gave the visitor a "science fiction movie" experience. But in practical terms, it was not a priority to implement non-contact technology.

But COVID-19 changed everything. Non-contact technology is no longer just for the company to perceive itself as modern, today it is a necessity to safeguard everyone's health. And the change has to be made as soon as possible to ensure a safe return to new productivity during and after lockdown and to comply with new regulations.

What is non-contact technology?
Non-contact technology solutions seem to be taken from a fictional novel and although they seem novel, they have been on the market for several years and are becoming more and more common.

We then find biometrics, which include facial, iris or 3D fingerprint recognition and where users do not need to have any contact with devices to use them.

There are also access control systems such as RFID and virtual credentials, technologies integrated into smartphones for reading QR codes or some other credential sent to their phones. The user also has no contact with any device, only releases the access controls by presenting his smartphone, in front of the remote reading device.

How to implement contactless technology?
It is very easy, having Welcome installed, you will only have to update the version of the software and acquire the integration license.

Welcome has integrations of ID readers and QR codes, so that when scheduling a visit, the information and a QR code reaches the visitor to his email, so, once the person presents the code or passes his ID at the access point, Welcome will activate the pinwheels.

If your access points do not yet have contactless technology, you will need to invest in ID or QR code readers and Relay Modules so that the windlasses can read them.

Or, if you want to go further and implement facial and temperature terminals, with Welcome you can manage the information that is registered in these terminals: the visitor takes the photo at the reception and registers his data, then Welcome synchronizes the photo with the terminal and there the face is contrasted, the temperature will be taken and if the visitor is making good use of the mask he will be allowed access.

If you are thinking of acquiring a visitor management platform, keep in mind that with Welcome you will have a complete and robust solution to control access to visitors and contractors, which also gives you the traceability of the people who have entered the company or entity to create an epidemiological fence.

How do you generate an epidemiological fence?
In case there is an employee, contractor or visitor positive for COVID-19, the solution can track the people who were in contact and limit their access. This will have a major impact on the well-being and productivity of the entire organization.

The pandemic changed reality and drove new priorities to ensure health and well-being at all levels. Companies and entities need access control and electronic security systems to offer alternatives that are easy to implement and use, because they understand that it goes beyond the security of the company, now it is a matter of taking care of life and reactivating the economy safely.
