Latin America. This Wednesday, June 17, LATAM Women in Cybersecurity (WOMCY) and Women in Security & Resilience Alliance (WISECRA) will announce the final list of the 'Top Women in Cybersecurity - Latin America 2020', in a virtual event that will take place at 6:00 p.m. (Col-Mex time / 7:00 p.m. Miami time / 8:00 p.m. Brazil time).
WOMCY and WISECRA jointly launched, on March 8, the first edition of 'Top Women in Cybersecurity' in Latin America, with the purpose of nominating cybersecurity professionals who deserved to be awarded as one of the most recognized women in the sector in the continent.
More than 150 nominations from women from various fields of Cybersecurity in Latin America were received until May 8, to then be analyzed by the panel of judges composed of ten recognized executives, who analyzed the candidates following an exhaustive evaluation criterion to determine the social and professional scope of their contributions in the sector.
After this evaluation, the 50 women who will be part of this important list were selected, which will be revealed at the virtual ceremony on June 17.
This list recognizes female leaders who have today made significant contributions to the industry and opens the way for future generations of female professionals. These dedicated professionals cater to all facets of the cybersecurity industry, from sales and marketing to engineering and technical development.
The opening ceremony will be in charge of Leticia Gammill, president of WOMCY and Bonnie Butlin, International Coordinator of WISECRA, a global network of women professionals in cybersecurity. The central talk of the night will be given by Ignacio Perrone, Director of Research of ICT (Information and Communications Technology) of Frost & Sullivan, who will talk about the status of women in Cybersecurity and what are the perspectives in this 'New Normal' that we face after the COVID-19 pandemic.
The event will also feature the special participation of Alison Treppel, Executive Secretary of the Inter-American Committee against Terrorism (CICTE), of the Organization of American States (OAS) and Major Milena Realpe, Cybersecurity Advisor of the Ministry of Defense of Colombia, as representative of the panel of juries that were part of this election.
