Latin America. Years ago, the human being managed to install technology in the world, coming to change ideas we had, habits and generating smarter lives. It was only a matter of time before, with the advancement of technology, large cities became SmartCity, a concept that comes to assume that security and technology go hand in hand.
For a city to carry the SmartCity label, it is not only necessary to have technology, it is essential that governments are involved and have a vision about which city they want to have, in a SmartCity it is important to generate a link between citizens, private companies and governments, which have as their sole purpose to collaborate on security and add value to their community.
The idea of SmartCity is that a smart city can potentiate solutions and make them more efficient, in this way not only large cities are smart, so are small cities, those that have few inhabitants and a more humble infrastructure and that reinforce the idea that every city that has digital technology is already smart. This is the case of the town of Telen, located in the province of La Pampa, Argentina, where on March 4 they launched together with the company SoftGuard and Grupo Vicnet, the SmartCity App and platform focused on the fight against the Coronavirus, in this way the technology and innovation that both companies have can prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the city of Telen. It is proven that innovation and technologies are necessary tools to solve problems in cities.
In the words of Mr. Saúl Echeveste, Mayor of the town of Telen "This mobile application allows Telén, among other security actions, to take care of and prevent the spread of the Coronavirus in the population. Taking advantage of technology in this type of extreme pandemic situations and doing it to help and not to misinform is key to prevention and citizen protection. The system needs the collaboration of everyone and we need to make the population aware of the benefits of having the app installed" The mayor also focused on what is the functionality of this new launch: "Remember that the objective of this application in addition to allowing the inhabitants to have direct and real-time communication with the Monitoring and Control Center, is to analyze the effect of the measures on the mobility of the population, identifying whether displacements increase or decrease. In this way, better decision-making of the Local Crisis Committee can be made in the management of the health emergency.
In the same sense, Rodolfo Alonso, CEO of Grupo Vicnet details that: "thanks to the strategic alliance of his company with a leading company in the Latin American market such as SoftGuard, the development of technological solutions to improve the quality of life of people continues, and the most important thing is that both companies have teams of professionals and technicians highly trained to implement solutions in record time that adapt to current problems. as it is in this case the Coronavirus pandemic".
From SoftGuard, the CEO Daniel Banda, has commented to feel very proud and satisfied with the fact that it coincides reality with the entire communication policy of the company, in the sense that any city, large city or small town, can be a "smart city" or SmartCity. SoftGuard together with the Vicnet Group are incubators of SmartCities, implementing online connection platforms for citizens with their government, starting with the axis of public safety and citizen assistance in the face of complex problems such as the Covid-19 pandemic today.
From the next few hours, Telen becomes the select group of SmartCities of Argentina, with a complete platform of assistance against Coronavirus for 90 days of campaign.
A whole teamwork made it possible that from today, Telen is a smart city and that it has provided citizens with the necessary tools to be able to achieve a transformation towards modernization. The municipality of Telen understood that to grow it is important to invest in advanced technology.
