WatchGuard Released New Network Security Appliance for Harsh Environments

International. WatchGuard Technologies announced the launch of the Firebox T35-R, an industrially hardened network security appliance that enables mid-market enterprises, distributed enterprises, and the managed service providers that support them, to extend WatchGuard's security services and performance beyond traditional office and data center configuration to protect against malware, intrusions and other threats in the harshest environments in the industry.

"As cyber criminals set their sights on the massive wave of recently adopted and potentially insecure Internet of Things (IIoT) devices, enterprises need network security solutions that can withstand the relentless deployment conditions present in harsh environments," said Brendan Patterson, vice president of product management at WatchGuard. "The T35-R is designed to meet this growing demand, offering the same industry-leading enterprise-grade safety and performance protections as our conventional, highly resistant network security appliances to the temperature, humidity and dust often found in manufacturing, oil and gas plants. utility sites, agricultural environments, and other rugged places."

The T35-R Firebox offers the following features:

  • An IP64-rated industrial cabinet: The device is fully dust and splash proof, and is capable of operating at temperatures from -40 to +60 degrees Celsius, providing reliable security and connectivity that persists despite the extreme conditions often found in non-traditional network environments and eliminating the need to build custom enclosures.
  • DC power: The device can operate on a DC power supply from 12v to 48v or, alternatively, use an optional AC power supply.
  • Network Security: The T35-R makes site-to-site VPN connectivity simple, reliable, and manageable, and allows administrators to securely enable advanced security protections including APT Blocker, threat detection and response, DNSWatch, IPS, Gateway AntiVirus, and more, without slowing down the network speed. NSS Labs recently recommended WatchGuard Firebox in its annual NGFW report as one of only two vendors to successfully defeat all evasion attempts.
  • Simplified deployment: Industry organizations and the IT solution providers that support them can easily configure, deploy, and manage the T35-R using RapidDeploy, WatchGuard's centralized zero-contact configuration solution, and WatchGuard Cloud management platform. Users can preconfigure devices for fast, non-technical installation, saving travel time and work hours for individual security deployments at remote industrial sites.
  • SCADA IPS Signatures: Included with WatchGuard's Core and Total Security Suite, Firebox T35-R leverages these signatures to protect against the well-known Industrial Control System (ICS) and SCADA threats and enable security use cases in harsh deployment environments.
