HID solution was approved by the National Registry of Civil Status of Colombia

Colombia. HID Global announced that its Lumidigm V421-NC-01 multispectral sensor was approved, at the beginning of 2019, by the National Registry of Civil Status of Colombia as a device that meets the technical safety requirements of the new version (V2) of Technical Annex 2. The V421-NC 01 is the only sensor that meets the latest security requirements for fingerprint validation processes.

With the issuance of version 2 of Technical Annex 2, the National Registry of Civil Status seeks to guarantee the protection of the identity of Colombian citizens when they carry out operations with entities, public or private, where it is required to validate fingerprints against the government registry database. On the other hand, the Registry requires that fingerprint sensors be certified by its laboratories before they can be incorporated into any application that sends images or templates to its database.

New safety requirements include live finger detection and false finger detection made of acetate, rubber, glue, latex and silicone, among other materials.

The Lumidigm V421-NC-01 multispectral sensor was designed to simplify transactions and reduce fraud in financial institutions, governments and any other entity that requires high security. Additionally, it provides secure end-to-end biometric authentication.

It is important to remember that multispectral imaging technology is ISO/IEC 30107-3 certified for detecting the submission of false biometric samples to the biometric capture system. This certification is focused on the detection of attempts to circumvent the biometric control system through identity theft and on the detection of live fingerprints, in order to determine if the fingerprint data captured by the sensor comes from a real living person or from a fake copy of plastic or another artificial copy.

In Latin America there are more than 150 million citizens who use Lumidigm's multispectral technology. Some of the applications are:

Banking: In Brazil, 85 million people use multispectral fingerprint sensors at more than 130,000 ATMs. In Chile, 4 million bank customers use these sensors to verify their identity before opening a new account, changing beneficiaries or making transactions.

Public pension payment systems: in another of the countries of South America, 8 million retirees and pensioners access the payment of their pension after verifying their identity using multispectral technology.

Identity fraud prevention in state health systems: more than 60 million citizens in one of the Latin American countries use Lumidigm biometric technology to authenticate their identity before accessing state health services.

Juan Carlos Tejedor Luna, Sales Director of HID Lumidigm for South America, said: "The citizen expects to have a good experience and must be provided with a relevant and reliable solution. Establishing and confirming with 100% confidence the identity of the citizen is the core of the identification systems of the countries, especially at a time when identity fraud is increasing. Fingerprint biometrics is an essential component to citizen identity and is a tool that allows states to provide services easily and reliably."
