Version 20 of the ONVIF Developer Plugfest was held

International. ONVIF hosted the 20th ONVIF Developer Plugfest in early June in Tokyo, a milestone that emphasizes continued growth and continued demand for interoperable solutions.

Developers and engineers from 22 member companies of the standard gathered at the three-day event to test their implementations of ONVIF Profiles with other products compatible with the ONVIF Profile. Developers can test their products, regardless of profile compatibility, and can test interoperability between their devices and those of third parties.

With 47 members testing their implementations of the six ONVIF profiles, attendees logged nearly 250 hours of testing. In addition to profile interoperability testing, all ONVIF customers had the opportunity to test the use of the standard's Device/Client test tool. From there, attendees were able to discuss with the developers of testing tools about topics that came up during compatibility testing.

"The continued level of participation of our member companies in what is today our 20th version of the Developer Plugfest demonstrates the importance of interoperability for the industry as a whole," said Per Björkdahl, Chairman of the ONVIF Steering Committee. "As new profiles are developed to meet the changing needs of the market, it is more important than ever for companies to collaborate and exchange ideas in order to create the best new compatible technologies possible."

Developer Plugfests are held twice each year around the world to allow global members of the standard to come together to test their implementations. The next Developer Plugfest is scheduled to take place in November 2019 in Rome, Italy.
