A detailed look at the image quality of Bosch cameras

Latin America. It is currently a standard requirement of security devices to work smarter in the way they process information, as the importance of data capture and the opportunities provided by connected infrastructures and IoT become more prevalent.

That's why Bosch is constantly pushing the boundaries of technology to develop intelligent solutions that exceed today's most common security demands and offer clear business advantages beyond security. We believe the logical progression for security is to allow customers to interpret and reuse the huge amounts of data captured by video.

However, we think it's just as important how a device looks at how it thinks. If accurate information cannot be delivered in the event of an emergency, or accurate evidence after a criminal act, even the best video and data technology would become redundant. This is why Bosch never loses sight of the importance of image quality, as it offers resolutions of up to 4K ultra HD, Starlight technology for low-light situations and thermal solutions for early detection in low-light conditions.

With the latest firmware version (6.50), Bosch continues to innovate video security and integrate advanced technology features, including the ability to deliver higher quality images. By improving the contrast and sharpness of images, turbidity is reduced and turbidity is increased, while the implementation of a wider and improved dynamic range increases visibility in areas susceptible to highlights and dark spots. Captured images also benefit from additional improvements in facial detail visibility, designed to deal with strong backlight.

Our latest development also offers less color desaturation, even at low lux levels, colorful images can be maintained in those unfavorable lighting situations. The benefit goes beyond visibility, because a key element in the effectiveness of video analytics is color filtering. Therefore, when the colors that are captured are sharper, the information that is obtained later is more accurate and the levels of confidence in the system reach new highs.

Bosch products that benefit from the latest firmware update are the FLEXIDOME IP 4000i and 5000i range (fixed dome) and the DINION IP 4000i, 5000i and 6000i (vignette) range, which is mainly used in retail stores, in addition to the AUTODOME IP 5000i motion cameras which are mainly used for public monitoring.

Speaking of retail, the firmware update provides a new level of enhancement to images captured by the FLEXIDOME IP and DINION IP 4000i, 5000i and 6000i range. A practical example is the way these cameras can secure entry to premises by capturing detailed images that can differentiate between objects and people, even by compensating for fluctuations in backlight and front light. Image quality can also be invaluable in retail, particularly when combined with Essential Video Analytics, included in the 4000i, IP 5000i, and IP 6000i IP cameras. This enables valuable data to be recovered for instances such as enforcing health and safety regulations and maximizing sales.

Meanwhile, the firmware update makes all the difference with the AUTODOME 5000i cameras. These cameras are mainly used for public monitoring, in medium and very frequented areas, such as parking lots and warehouses, areas susceptible to poor lighting. The capabilities of the cameras, along with the updated firmware, provide images of improved quality and ease of use.
