With this third launch so far in 2018, the company continues to respond to the demands of the partner community. Integrated and enhanced Support for Axis Cameras
Many modern surveillance cameras are offered with advanced analysis features such as motion detection, temperature detection, and perimeter protection. These camera functions generate events. Thanks to Milestone's versatile XProtect VMS rule execution engine, this and other device information can be used to execute actions such as starting and stopping recordings, either manually or automatically, sending alerts, or other responses.
With the 2018 R3 release of the product and Device Pack 9.9, users can take advantage of a broader list of events, allowing them to use all the event features the camera has to offer. This enhancement starts with support for Axis network cameras, allowing the Axis Camera Application Platform (ACAP) to work even better with XProtect.
New, more secure and improved log server
An important aspect of maintaining a secure video system and better protected against attacks or unwanted behavior is to have a clear understanding of what is happening in the system. Here the log server plays a pivotal role in storing all log messages for the entire video monitoring system. This provides information about usage patterns, access logging, system performance, and administrative activities.
Thanks to the 2018 R3 version, users can enjoy a new and improved log server that allows even faster identification and documentation of the history of system activities and user interactions in the system.
Additional enhancements to XProtect 2018 R3
Among the many operational improvements brought by this latest version of 2018, is the support for Smart Map in the integration platform software development kit (MIP SDK), which allows the Milestone developer community to improve the information about the environment available to the operator.
The 2018 R3 version of XProtect will be available for purchase from October 2 through the Milestone Partner Community.
