Hanwha Establishes Ties with Dominican Republic Banking

Latin America. Through the presentation of SOLUTIONS for ATM, the company had an outstanding participation in the annual congress organized by the Association of Banks of the Dominican Republic.

Hanwha Techwin participated in the 20th edition of the National Security Congress, held at the Breathless Hotel in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, recently. During this event, organized by the Association of Banks of the Dominican Republic (ABA), the company presented a complete solution for ATMs that was very well received by representatives of the more than 40 banks that are located in this country.

The meeting had speakers from different countries who addressed various topics, including banking security, and specifically electronic security. According to Luis Miguel Dávila, from Hanwha's Central American Projects and Technical Support area, the biggest risk for banks in the region is ATMs.

"Since ATMs are usually on third-party sites, they are more vulnerable, so criminals might have more access to them. So that's where we focus a lot and we have a great acceptance with our solution by managers and security directors of the banks, "explained the executive Dávila.

Through its own solution for ATM, a first contact was established with national banks to later achieve a certification with a distributor and proceed to the installation in agencies, buildings and data centers, among others.  Hence, in Dávila's words, "we are going to continue with the relationship."

Successful solution
The camera used for ATM is the XNB-6001 model, which features two-way audio, advanced video analysis and sound rating. This is integrated into the ATM internally to focus on the customer's face. In addition to this, a second camera is installed outside the ATM, whose models can be XNV-6080R or QNV-6070R, to focus the ATM and the withdrawal of the money.

"With this equipment we can make a complete integration with some sensors that already come in the ATM or that the customer can install them," added Luis Miguel, who stressed that until a couple of years ago banks in countries such as Guatemala or Nicaragua had not appropriated Hanwha technologies. However, in the latter country, 50% of the banks updated their video surveillance system with technology developed by the Korean company, which also seeks to reach those in Dominican territory.

Precisely, the Hanwha stand was one of the most attended by the attendees of the national congress when showing dedicated cameras for ATM. Unlike the equipment exhibited in other posts, with monitors that barely made video record of the passers-by by the place, in this one the analytics arranged in each camera stood out.

As a differentiator, for example, people counting analytics was activated. In this way, in addition to recording how many people approached the stand when crossing a virtual line, they could also contemplate the configured software.

Another analysis that caught the attention of many was the audio detection that each of the visitors could check. When raising your voice, uttering a word out loud, or simply giving a round of applause, the camera automatically displayed an alarm.

Although this application is more suitable for libraries, hospitals, schools or universities, where sounds with a high volume should not be presented, they are also part of the solutions offered for the banking sector in the Dominican Republic.
