Latin America. Industry standards are those that predominate in the industry and ensure the safe operation of doors, turnstiles, gates and access control equipment in the United States and Canada.
Boon Edam Inc. announced that as part of an ongoing policy of certifying its products to North American standards, the Swing and Open models of the Speedlane optical tourniquet series have been tested and certified to comply with UL 325 and 2593 standards and CSA (Canadian Standards Association) safety standard 22.2.
The above are the industry standards that predominate in the industry and are intended to ensure the safe operation of doors, turnstiles, gates and access control equipment in the United States and Canada. Although all Boon Edam products currently comply with the CE (the European Union's safety and operating standard), the company continues to work to obtain UL certification for all safety entrances and turnstiles it markets in the Americas in order to align them with North American standards and simplify installation for its customers.
The Swing and Open models of the Lifeline series were initially launched in Europe in January 2015 and, after their appearance in the Americas, in March of the same year, quickly became a bestseller thanks to their modern design, intuitive functions and low-energy operation. The Speedlane Swing, in particular, is currently very popular because it has the thinnest cabinets in the industry (only four inches wide) which brings an elegant appearance to the lobbies of urban centers, where space is very small.
"Today's business environment attaches great importance to risk mitigation and Boon Edam has always emphasized safety around the world," said Mark Borto, CEO of Boon Edam Inc. "We know that UL standards field certifications are not always practical for our customers, so we continue to invest in UL certifications as we launch new products, a long and expensive process," says Borto, who reaffirms that obtaining certification for these products can guarantee American customers that a third party has carried out a rigorous testing and certification process and has confirmed that these products work in a safe and predictable way in any location.
The lifeline series turnstiles were tested by UL (United Laboratories), an entity founded in 1894 and which currently helps companies ensure the safety of their equipment and confirm regulatory compliance. The following are some of the services offered by UL: inspection, advisory services, education and training, testing, auditing and analysis, certification software solutions and verification of information disseminated in marketing campaigns.
