Mexico. Large cities have great security needs. When managing their police forces, they face the challenge of determining which sectors require the most vigilance every day.
To provide a solution to this problem and reduce crime rates, NEC offers a portfolio of security solutions through its public security platform, which offers better surveillance in cities to optimize the quality of life, both citizens and tourists.
The challenge is to integrate security operations in one place, coordinating and optimizing the resources of public security agents, such as: first aid, traffic control, public transport and civil defense, in order to efficiently manage protection and security situations in the city.
To achieve this, thousands of cameras are installed with which cities can be monitored 24 hours a day. In addition, new automation and image detection systems can be used through an operations center to improve the tasks of operators, security agents and the judiciary.
To monitor safety in schools, public transport, detect and block stolen cars, identify suspicious or missing people, NEC implements an integrated platform to provide urban security, capable of collecting and analyzing information from various sources such as videos, panic buttons, emergency calls and social networks.
"This technology allows operators to make decisions quickly by providing a quick response to citizens and recording all cases in the system in order to create a crime map for the city," says Jorge Vargas, Global Head of Surveillance Solutions and Regional Competence Center for Latin America at NEC.
Some of the solutions covered by the public safety platform are:
- Citizen Collaboration system with Security
- Vehicle License Plate Analyzer
- Facial Recognition System
- Behavior Detection
- Crime and Evidence Map
- Machine Learning Technologies
Among the most relevant solutions developed by NEC, the Citizen Collaboration with Security System stands out, which allows citizens to become active participants in improving safety when requesting services (ambulance, police and firefighters) or reporting accidents or situations that require a response. This platform is capable of receiving alerts from dedicated anti-panic devices and other channels, such as mobile applications, POS terminals (Point of Sales ), SMS, social networks, among others.
An example of the implementation of these solutions is the City of Tigre, in Argentina. This city managed to reduce vehicle theft by 80% due to the analysis of data in real time and the detection of suspicious movements automatically. In addition, with the evidence provided by NEC technology, the necessary evidence is secured to solve more than 35% of police cases.
Thanks to NEC's technology solutions, cities have a better option to efficiently and intelligently manage their police force. With this, NEC seeks to drive the vision of making technology and people work together to achieve substantial improvement for the overall well-being of cities.
