Two Ways Fiber Has Helped Improve Information Security

Latin America. For companies, the protection of personal information is a matter of great importance. Users want to be as protected as possible, and for this operators have found in the implementation of fiber a way to keep information safe, investing heavily in meeting this challenge in the best possible way.

As the evolution of the industry and technology presents different challenges in terms of data security, it is inevitable that operators seek to find the best solutions to continue offering safe and efficient services to users. When it comes to the transmission of information, it is essential to have the confidence that the data cannot be "attacked" or put in a situation of vulnerability.

For Erik Gronvall, Senior Manager of Product Management and Fiber Innovation for BNS at CommScope, there are two ways fiber has optimized data security for everyone:

Fiber is physically more difficult to intervene. "It's not like the old movies where someone gets on a phone pole, sticks a device on the wire and they can hear a phone call. Fiber can't be altered so simply or discreetly," Gronvall said.

It allows us to take our data to the cloud without putting the information at risk. Our data has gone from being physically hosted with us, in our homes or devices, to public spaces like the cloud. "Fiber allows data to be transmitted much faster, which reinforces the information security we enjoy today by ensuring better transfer speed."

Investing in technology to address security challenges is not only in the short term, but also in a future-proof infrastructure. The fiber in the network allows not only to transmit data but also to shield it, so it has become a solution that guarantees an excellent transmission speed, at the same time as raising the guarantee of security for companies.

"There is no doubt that the security of personal information is an important issue. We want to be as protected as possible. It is for this reason that the implementation of fiber in a network is one of the ways in which operators guarantee that the information is shielded against intrusions. Fiber is a solution that provides the opportunity to transmit data in an agile and efficient way, supporting operators in their goal of protecting their users' information," concluded CommScope's Senior Manager of Product Management and Fiber Innovation for BNS.
