Bosch and Sony are now one in video security

International. Bosch Security Systems and Sony Corporation have signed a contract to establish a collaboration aimed at the development of innovative products and solutions in the field of video security applications.

Starting in early 2017, both companies aspire to combine their technological expertise to set new standards in the processing of high-resolution video images and low-light conditions.

As part of the agreement reached, Sony's video security customers in all markets except Japan will be served and supported by Bosch Security Systems' sales and marketing organization.

The agreement is subject to approval by antitrust authorities. Within the framework of the aforementioned partnership, Sony will bring its leading expertise in quality and performance of video images, while Bosch will make available to the association an extensive package of video analysis systems for data interpretation, as well as innovative technologies to achieve high transfer speeds and minimal storage space.

"This partnership will revolutionize the video security industry by combining unique technology expertise and the strengths of two leading companies in the field of video security applications. Customers will be able to benefit from Sony's superior image quality, such as its 4K solutions, combined with Bosch's data flow management and video analytics," said Toru Katsumoto, vice president of Imaging Products and Solutions and president of Sony Corporation's Professional Products Group sector.

"This unique partnership also supports Bosch's vision for the Internet of Things. Video security cameras and more specifically the data they capture, play an important role in the development of the so-called Internet of Things. According to Gert van Iperen, president of Bosch Security Systems, video cameras can also be considered as "the eyes of the Internet of Things".

Sony's video security customers will be served and technically supported by a dedicated sales and marketing team within the Bosch Security Systems organization, offering customer support, after-sales service and training in different languages in more than 50 countries around the world.

"The global bosch Security Systems organization will support the dedicated sales and marketing team responsible for Sony products as well as Sony customers to grow the business through excellent support and service," said Van Iperen.

Sony will continue to develop and manufacture its video security products under its brand.
