Latin America. With a 3-year warranty, the new model comes to the market with the most affordable price among the brand's IR dome cameras.
Axis Communications launched a new series of infrared (IR) illuminated IP cameras that automatically adapt to varying light conditions, including total darkness. The launch introduces a new price level by costing 45% lower than the brand's similar model – a viable option for small merchants, hotels, offices and restaurants.
The new AXIS M31 series consists of three models for internal use and three models for external use. "There is a strong demand in the market for fixed dome cameras with integrated infrared. This demand comes from price-sensitive customers who want a reliable video surveillance system regardless of lighting conditions," explains Sergio Fukushima, technical manager at Axis.
One of the innovations of the series is the flat design instead of the traditional dome in curved format. This prevents common reflections with infrared illumination. For better response to light contrast, all AXIS M31 features WDR technology, which automatically compensates for intense light variation in light and dark areas of the video.
The new cameras also have a memory card slot, preventing small merchants and administrators from investing in storage. Image compression is optimized by the Zipstream technology present in all six cameras, which reduces the need for bandwidth and storage by an average of 50%.
The new series hits the market with a suggested retail price (MSRP) of $299 in the U.S. for AXIS M3104-LVE (HDTV resolution with 80° viewing angle). There are also options that reach 4 megapixels and a 130º viewing angle. All six cameras are now available in South America through axis' distribution network.
