Genetec Announces AutoVu Update

Latin America.  Automatic Plate Recognition Managed Services Eliminate the Need for Local IT Infrastructure and Management, allowing Users to Focus on Public Safety Operation.

Genetec announced the latest update to AutoVu™ Managed Services (AMS™), a turnkey Automatic Plate Recognition (ALPR) solution that allows Law Enforcement and Law Enforcement Institutions to outsource their hardware and IT management requirements to Genetec™.

AutoVu™ Managed Services leverage the cloud to offer end users the ability to become independent of local storage, IT management, depreciation costs, and can now have a larger fleet of patrol units with SUPPORT for ALPR cameras. AutoVu is offered as part of Genetec's™ Security Center, the company's unified IP security platform that combines access control, video surveillance and ALPR.

It is estimated that AutoVu Managed Services will be available by mid-May through Genetec's AutoVu Authorized Business Partners.

"We had to host and maintain our own servers on our premises, which even after fixing the problems that were presented, we were performing only for 55% of the time. We also had a delay in performance that was frustrating, and constant conflicts with internal IT," said Jayon Barer, an official with richmond City, Virginia. "After becoming pioneering users of AutoVu Managed Services, Genetec began managing all ALPR managed services and storage remotely, resulting in 99% operation, and since then the system has been running flawlessly. We usually send an email to Genetec with the lists of permissions and violators, and within five minutes, everything is up to date. AutoVu's Managed Services allow us to focus on the operation, while Genetec's experts take care of the technology," added Mr. Barner.

"We created AutoVu Managed Services specifically for customers who are limited in costs, server space, and hardware management on-premises and IT support issues," said Chris Yigit, Business Development Manager at Genetec. "AutoVu Managed Services offer our customers the most flexible way to focus on what they are experts in. With AutoVu's ALPR system hosted in the cloud, configuration and maintenance are entrusted to Genetec technicians, for easy installation, administration and support," added Mr. Yigit.
