Puerto Rico. GM Security Technologies (GM Sec Tec), an organization of technological processes of cloud computing, 'Big Data' and integral security, announced that the PCI Security Standards Council (SSC) has certified them as a Quality Security Assessor (QSA) for Latin America.
This designation reaffirms GM Security Technologies' expertise in evaluating enterprises' security infrastructure, procedures, policies, networks, and systems to ensure the protection of customers' payment data in compliance with the PCI Data Security Standard "PCI DSS."
The PCI Security Standards Council is an open global forum for the ongoing development, enhancement, storage, dissemination and application of security standards for the protection of account data. Created in 2006, and endorsed by American Express, Discover Financial Services, JCB International, MasterCard Worldwide and Visa Inc., with the goal of ensuring the protection of their cardholders' data, the PCI Security Standards Council requires that both merchants and service providers who in any way store, process or transmit cardholder account data have information security controls in place.
As a Qualified Security Advisor, GM Security Technologies plays a vital role in protecting payment card environments, by evaluating and advising on customer data security strategy. This certification qualifies GM Security Technologies as accredited advisors in Latin America, in the construction and maintenance of secure payment card networks, as well as specialists in the identification and elimination of possible risks in pre-existing networks, through access controls, regular testing system, and continuous monitoring of the system.
"The PCI Security Standards Council is committed to helping everyone involved in the payment chain, to protect consumers' payment data," said Stephen Orfei, General Manager of the PCI Security Standards Council. "By participating in the QSA certification process, GM Security Technologies demonstrates that they are playing an active role in this important goal," Orfei said.
"This high-level and renowned certification reflects GM Security Technologies' dedication to providing customers across business sectors with the most comprehensive cybersecurity solutions. Our designation as Quality Security Assessor (QSA) adds a new dimension to the security services we already offer in the marketplace, which help organizations improve their information security while working to prevent, respond to, or remedy cybersecurity-related challenges," said Hector Guillermo Martinez, Executive Vice President, GM Security Technologies.
Businesses that accept credit card payments, whether they're big businesses, well-established institutions, or growing startups, need this protection in order to defend themselves and their customers. If a company is in non-compliance with the PCI DSS standard, it can expect fines, loss of brand and will be responsible for all customer losses in terms of fraud, in addition to the loss of the company's reputation for the dissatisfaction of its customers.
With the aim of promoting and supporting the education and evangelization of this issue of payment data security, GM Security Technologies will be as a sponsor on August 2, in Mexico City, at the "Latin America and Caribbean Payment Risk Summit", an event organized by VISA, which will bring together banks, businesses, airlines, and experts in technology and digital trends to provide the safest and most innovative services to pay and be paid.
