International. Tyco Security Products introduces its Cyber Protection Program. It is a multifaceted program that offers a holistic approach to cybersecurity protection for physical security systems at every stage of the product development cycle.
As a trusted global leader, Tyco Security Products has extensive experience in cybersecurity systems, having provided critical solutions for the U.S. government and other multinational customers for many years. It was also the first to introduce unprecedented products in the industry, such as FISMA-compliant video surveillance and access control solutions.
"Our Cyber Protection Program grew out of our extensive and unique experience in products that comply with government regulations and are adapted to highly complex multinational implementations," said Ricardo Pulido, Director of Sales in Latin America, Tyco Security Products. "Our deep knowledge of these rigorous regulations allows us to better assist our customers and effectively reduce hacker risks, activists or other malicious threats that can affect physical security systems."
The Cyber Protection Program is led by a team responsible for monitoring the product development process and authorizing the final release of the product to ensure compliance with security best practices. The following are some of the best practices mentioned:
Develop and maintain company safety standards for product development
Conduct security assessments and testing on devices, applications, and systems
Advise users to configure systems to comply with NERC and FISMA Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) standards
Conduct internal and independent third-party security testing of Tyco SP products
Evaluate and develop responses to potential vulnerabilities that may affect our products as they are discovered
The program has already been implemented in several product lines, including Software House, American Dynamics and Illustra. The Cyber Protection team is designing a long-term strategy to integrate the same cybersecurity measures into other product lines in the Tyco Security Products portfolio.
