International. This British educational center has incorporated two Sony SNC-VM772R 4K cameras to its existing network to monitor the entrance and the sports field.
Since its founding in 1936, Harton Technology College in South Shields (County Tyne and Wear, UK) has added two Sony SNC-VM772R 4K video surveillance cameras to its existing network, becoming the first institute in the UK with a Sony 4K surveillance solution.
When considering revamping existing security technology, Harton Technology College made it clear that its top priority was optimal image quality to ensure the most effective monitoring of the main areas of its facilities. With a gateway filled daily with students, staff, parents and visitors, it was critical that the solution could capture the smallest detail of a scene to deliver maximum security. The installation is a breakthrough for the center, which already has an extensive network of about 100 cameras.
Educational environments require a powerful security solution with wide coverage and the best quality images, all without affecting the privacy of students and teachers. The institute also needed a security system that would integrate into its existing network, but also capture two important specific points of interest: the gateway and the sports field. The solution had to offer all the advantages of 4K technology, especially high-resolution images, but without saturating the video network.
They opted for Sony's SNC-VM772R 4K cameras to monitor the front door and sports field. They are perfectly suited to the client's needs to cover a wide field of view at the front door and the sports field, while also having the ability to sharply bring the areas of interest of the scene closer together.
The result is a fully integrated and easy-to-manage system that has offered a comprehensive security solution to Harton Technology College. Traditionally, higher-resolution images have come at the cost of low-light sensitivity, but the new 20MP Exmor R Type 1.0 sensor used in Sony's 4K camera delivers high-resolution recordings regardless of lighting levels, even in low-light environments and in absolute darkness thanks to the built-in infrared illuminator. The transition to 4K in the core areas has optimized the security solution at the center, with quick and easy identification.
Harton Technology College commissioned Universal Systems Solutions (USS) to provide detailed coverage of its front door and sports field. USS was responsible for providing the quality security solution it needed and, thanks to USS' vast experience and strong collaboration with Sony, the company was able to perfectly meet customer requirements. This achievement was due to the implementation of a reliable system that was complemented by current Sony models, providing 4K image coverage in the necessary areas with lower bandwidth.
