Peru. The installation of surveillance cameras inside the buses of the Metropolitano, announced by Mayor Luis Castañeda, would become a reality next January. This was estimated by the head of Security of that system, Marino Farías.
The official said that the delay in this project is due to the different steps that the Municipality of Lima must follow for the acquisition of equipment. "The technical file is made, it is submitted to a public tender, the bidders come, the good pro comes out, the appeals and that goes to the Supervisory Body of State Contracting," he explained to the Andean Agency.
Last June, as a pilot, Pro Transporte personnel installed the first internal and external cameras in at least ten trunk buses and feeders of the Metropolitano to evaluate their operation.
It should be noted that currently the Metropolitan has 415 surveillance cameras that have been installed along the entire trunk road, which are monitored from the control center that Pro Transporte has implemented at its main headquarters, as well as at the Central Station and in Naranjal, in Independencia.
