Mexico. A part of the 42 video surveillance cameras that operate in the municipality of San Pedro Cholula are obsolete and do not allow the identification of people who participate in illicit acts, acknowledged the councilor of the Interior, Víctor Romero Tecpanécatl.
In addition, he accepted that the response time and police presence after a call for help from citizens is prolonged, which generates a bad perception.
Therefore, he said that an analysis is being carried out to determine how many of the currently installed cameras serve, how many should be relocated and which should definitely be changed.
"There are cameras that are required to be able to see well what is happening because sometimes those that are you want to zoom in and they are already 'pixelated', the image does not look good, so what we try is that those that serve use them in places where they are required, "he explained.
At the same time, the space where its operation is concentrated will be remodeled, to go from a small room to a space connected to the telephone helpline and the assistance is optimal.
He revealed that the project will be done with own resources, so financial projections are carried out to complete it without interruptions.
The popular representative acknowledged that there is complaint and discontent of citizens because of the slow response, however he clarified that the most important cases are addressed.
He said that the demarcations with the greatest vulnerability are San Matías Cocoyotla, San Juan Tlautla and Santiago Momoxpan, so there are concentrated the coordinated actions with both state and federal corporations, including members of the Mexican Army.
