UadeC will invest in video surveillance

Mexico. The rector of the Autonomous University of Coahuila, Blas Flores Dávila, reported that more surveillance cameras will be installed on the campuses of the maximum house of studies.

The official explained that for the installation of these devices, which will serve to give better security to all students and workers of the UAdeC, about one million pesos will be invested.

He added that the University already has surveillance cameras that work in the Part of the Rectory, on the Camporredondo campus, in Saltillo, as well as in Monclova and Torreón.

"The idea is to increase it to cover everything, approximately one million pesos more would be invested for chambers with resources from the University," he said.

Cameras still need to be installed on the Monclova campuses and a second part in Ciudad Universitaria de Torreón, as well as in the Nursing, Dentistry and Medicine part.

When asked how many cameras would be, he said he had no knowledge of how many there are exactly, but repeated, a million pesos will be invested, although he did not indicate if new cameras will be installed in Saltillo.

Last Friday, a local newspaper (Vanguardia) reported that a few meters from the facilities of the Autonomous University of Coahuila, a 16-year-old girl was about to be raped by two subjects around 12:30 p.m.

Days before, two vehicles had been stolen from the university area and there were no arrests.

Given this, said the rector, the University has the support of the authorities, who carry out surveillance rondines, and also have the support of the security guards of the maximum house of studies.
